Job Description

Provides representation of the faculty to the dean, detailed review and objective evaluation of faculty and performance; responsible for recommending to the dean the detailed schedule of courses to be offered, assignments of teaching and advising workloads; monitoring of report of student grades and completion of degree audits; responsible for establishing student learning outcomes, evaluation curriculum and continually improving the quality of teaching; responsible for developing and managing departmental budgets including those associated with grants and contracts; responsible for submitting recommendations for faculty development and travel; seeking opportunities for undergraduate and graduate student development; other duties and responsibilities include maintaining departmental records, supervising clerical staff, approving and ensuring timely ordering of text books and other instructional materials, complying with all rules and regulations governing proper use and care of university funds, facility and


  • Teach a variety of graduate courses.

  • Produce research and publish in academic journals, etc.

  • Provide service to the department, college and university.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Candidates must have an earned Doctorate degree in Psychology from an accredited university.

  • The successful candidate must be eligible for tenure at the rank of Associate Professor.

  • Experience in educational leadership to include teaching at the graduate level, developing a doctorate degree curriculum and obtaining/maintaining accreditation is required.

  • Interested candidates must have an established program of research, an active publication and/or grant writing record, and evidence of successful doctoral supervision.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills; excellent supervisory, organizational, and training skills.

  • Ability to work with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds as part of a team.

  • Demonstrated skills in development, implementation, and execution of programs; demonstrated abilities in the preparation and editing of reports, proposals, and academic documents.

  • Ability to access curriculum, student learning outcomes and program goals; demonstrated record of research in reputable peer-reviewed journals/outlets.

  • Doctorate degree in clinical psychology.

  • Preference will be given to those with prior experience as a department chair/head.
