Position Description This position will assist in advising prospective students as well as act as a liaison between applicants and Admissions Coordinators.

Performs supervisory and coordinative work in the operation of a specific program or departmental project. Responsibilities involve the coordination and supervision of the various functions and aspects of a specific program as well as the monitoring of program staff and operational procedures. Work is performed under general supervision with evaluation based on results obtained. May supervise program staff, volunteers and student assistants.

Major/Essential Functions

  • Overall exhibits Service Plus Orientation in work attitude and actions. Assist students, faculty, staff and other departments as needed.

  • Provides academic advising for all prospective graduate nursing students.

  • Schedule and host application workshops for prospective students either on TTUHSC campuses or online.

  • Ensure communication (verbal and written) to all prospective graduate nursing students, and applicants to the graduate nursing school, is current and accurate.

  • Reviews applicants' files to determine missing/incomplete documents on a continuous basis

  • Responsible for communicating with all applicants to the graduate nursing school regarding their status of missing documents.

  • Acts a liaison between applicants and Admissions Coordinators; therefore, accountable to Admissions Coordinators for continuous status updates for all applicants to the graduate nursing school

  • Manage the scheduling of interviews for faculty and prospective students.

  • Create quarterly newsletter for prospective students.

  • Assist with marketing and recruitment of graduate nursing students.

  • Able to assist other team members with projects and tasks.

Required Qualifications High school graduation plus five (5) years progressively responsible related experience; additional related education may exchange for required experience on a year for year basis.

Basic knowledge of Excel and Word. Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship skills.

  • Ability to set priorities; delegate and supervise the work of others; thorough knowledge of filing, posting and general office procedures; knowledge of spelling and arithmetic; ability to use office machines; ability to communicate and interact effectively with others; knowledge of word processing programs; computer and typing skills. Web and student information systems experience; public relations. Must have excellent verbal skills. Ability to communicate with potential students, current students, other TTUHSC departments and the community at large. Must be able to exercise good judgement, common sense and ability to make decisions is crucial. Must possess good written, computer, phone skills and be able to multi-task and work under pressure and deadlines. Must have exceptional people and organizational skills. Must be able to coordinate, plan and implement large events. Ability to work independently with little supervision.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Previous experience in the field of Student Affairs preferred.
