Position Description Analyzes and coordinates office services such as personnel, budget preparation and control, fiscal affairs, equipment utilization, records control, and special management studies.
Revise the annual billing compliance education
Revise orientation training material for new providers
Present billing compliance education to new providers, approve billing numbers for new providers
Review billing documentation
Provide requested information to UMC Medical Staff for credentialing/recredentialing purposes
Assist the Billing Compliance Director in preparation of quarterly and annual billing compliance reports
Assist in review and provide input on revision of existing and development of new billing compliance policies
Assist in conducting risk audits
Assist in preparing timely and accurate written reports of findings and provide follow up educations
Assist in conducting oversight audits of documentation and billing
Active participation in the development of the annual OIC Risk Assessment
Maintain familiarity with coding conventions, changes in payer rules/regulations
Assist in conducting HIPAA reviews and preparing timely and accurate written report of findings and provide follow up education
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in job related field plus one year of related experience; OR a combination of related education and/or experience to equal five (5) years.
Preferred Qualifications Current and active professional coding certification required from an accredited organization. Two or more years billing and coding experience in a multi-specialty group practice and/or academic practice setting is required. Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in a healthcare environment with two or more of those years directly involved in coding of health care systems/services. Ability to travel as needed. Excellent oral and written communication skills; write and present ideas and information in concise, clear manner. Meet deadlines and accomplish departmental goals. Work collaboratively with others. Excellent time management skills and attention to detail. Must successfully pass a criminal background check, as well as not be listed on the HHSOIG, Texas Medicaid, GSA, or other exclusion/sanctions list.
