Job Description

Performs and computes basic soil strength and index tests with high proficiency.

Roles And Responsibilities

With moderate supervision and little decision-making:

Observe and follow all company safety rules and procedures.

Support and encourage continuous improvement of the company’s processes, including safety program and quality management system.

Be willing to learn testing procedures.

Complete basic soil strength and index tests following detailed instructions. May assist senior technician in completing more complex testing.

Maintain laboratory facilities and assist in maintenance of test equipment.

Summarize test results in report form for analysis by engineering staff.

Perform clerical functions as required, meet administrative documents deadlines.

Be able to travel as required, both domestically and internationally.

Meet all utilization goals as determined by Activity Center Manager or supervisor.

Perform other duties assigned.

Communicate tactfully and effectively, verbally and in writing.

Maintain effective work relations with those encountered in the course of employment.

Come to work regularly and on time.

Execute work duties in an organized and efficient manner.

Maintain organized and clean work area.

Work well while under supervision.

Be able to meet deadlines.

Be able to work while under stress.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Essential Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent is required. Enrolled and accepted into a science, engineering or technology degree plan a plus.

Possess current driver’s license with acceptable motor vehicle record.

Possess or be able to obtain valid passport.

Have good math skills

Have good mechanical aptitude

Have knowledge of soil classification techniques

Be able to utilize testing equipment, able to perform laboratory equipment checks and calibrations in accordance with company procedures.Be able to perform office work, position self at desk, use computer keyboard and required software and office equipment.

Physical Qualifications

Performs heavy work exerting up to 50 pounds of force constantly, or a moderate amount of force constantly to move objects.


High school diploma or equivalent is required. Associate degree is preferred. 0-1 years of experience is preferred.

Familiarity with modern office methods, practices, procedures and equipment, as well as filing systems and business letter writing and competent in correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and arithmetic.
