THE RHODES SCHOOL Accounting Coordinator in HOUSTON, Texas

Accounting Coordinator is responsible for providing financial, administrative and clerical services. This includes processing and monitoring payments and expenditures for TRS. Education: Associates Degree required with at least six (6) college hours in Accounting. Knowledge of basic accounting principles, GAAP. Work Experience: Three to five years previous work experience as in finance, accounts receivable/payables required. Excel required. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Direct the daily operations of Accounts Payable and Purchasing to ensure the integrity of accounting records and transactions in compliance with TRS policies and procedures, generally accepted accounting principles, and relevant state and federal laws. 2. Review, approve, or verify accounting transactions; reconciles activities in the general ledger. Prepare journal entries for approval. 3. Assist in the Accounts payable and Purchasing functions as needed. 4. Prepare monthly Grant reimbursement requests for approval. Prepare Account Receivables journal entry for approval. Post revenue to appropriate accounts. 5. Reconcile Petty Cash, Gift Card, Credit Card and Bank accounts monthly. Prepare for monthly close outs. 6. Maintain inventory for capital expenditures. Prepare Depreciation expense journal entry for approval. 7. Analyze Federal, State, and Local Budgets. Submit Budget Amendment requests for approval. 8. Prepares financial reports as needed. 9. Assist with audit preparation for all Federal and State audits. 11. Reviews contracts for compliance with TRS policies and procedures. 12. Provide support for ad hoc requests. 13. Work cooperatively and jointly with others to provide quality service to our internal and external customers. 14. Performs other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.
